Our Story
Alayned was created from both experience and conviction. After more than two decades of leadership, coaching, and strategy across Africa and North America, our founder, Obenewa Amponsah, saw a pattern: brilliant, purpose-driven leaders—especially Black and Brown women—pouring themselves into work that mattered, but often at the cost of their clarity, confidence, and wholeness.
She founded Alayned Coaching & Consulting to change that.

Our Origins
The name Alayned is derived from the Krio spelling of “aligned,” in honor of our Founder Obenewa’s Sierra Leonean great-grandfather, who migrated to modern-day Ghana. The name speaks to both legacy and identity—reflecting our commitment to growth that is brave, authentic, and culturally attuned.
Our brand color, indigo, has long carried sacred meaning across the world—from West African dyers whose deep blues signified wealth and spirituality, to its echoes in the Americas as a symbol of resilience, creativity, and continuity. It grounds Alayned’s identity in both heritage and possibility.
Alayned’s logo feature, Nyansapo—the Wisdom Knot, a Ghanaian Adinkra symbol of representing clarity, interconnectedness, and the ability to navigate complexity with wisdom—an emblem of what it means to live and lead Alayned.
